About

I do candid photography and portrait shots. I am especially skillful and knowledgeable about handling candid not posed shooting situations. I have an MFA in painting, an art teaching degree from Washington University in St. Louis. I’ve been teaching art for quite some years. I'm especially keen to the psychology behind the camera and can explain that very well, and I do take each frame very seriously becasue that is where a good picture starts. You'll find that I talk about picture composation in great details becasue that deals with the grammar of the photgraphy language. I taught photography to adults and children, and I've trying to influence my daughter to take up photography so she could gain some practical skills when she grows up and may be taking up a job in photography, we'll have to see. I can also teach you post processing involving photoshop and lightroom. Recently I've attended a Magnum Photo Workshop run by the Frecn Photography Jean Gaumy and have gained new understanding about photography, which I can also share with my students.

I prefer online ZOOM sessions for secure social distancing for now. Students can travel to me to have the lesson, I can also do a shoot out with the students and we meet in a common place outside in fresh open air.

Below are two links where you can see my work, of course for the facebook link you will also see my writing and other personal interests.

I enjoy photography and writing. This is about what I do these days, and I do find a great joy from creating the type of works I wanted and teaching and sharing what I know. The pandemic did offer me a great opportunity and a good block of time to sort out and to complete my unfinished works. First you sort out your thinking then you go for it. I also do ballroom dancing and been teaching that as well.

Bin has taught my daughter photography and he is an excellent teacher. We know him since once asked him to photograph one family event in Connecticut. And we’ve looked his sensitive work and his unobtrusive approach. So when my daughter joined a photography club at her school, she wanted to get serious about it, and we thought of Bin. And since he was teaching my daughter photography. Now she is in college doing an art major. Bin really knows his craft well. He knows how to approach a scenario and catches the picture at the right moment. For this, my daughter sought of Bin highly.

I have been taking lesson from Bin Moy. Bin is a terrific teacher, very clear about his media and know exactly how to address my concern. He can almost sense what I want to ask because he knows this thing so well. Highly recommended. Eric

I have an art teaching degree, an MFA, from Washington University in St. Louis.

Additionally, I have attended Art and Photography workshops throughout my career.

Depending on the level and Subject and if needed to travel.

I have worked with a variety of students in different levels and different mentality.

She understood framing and took a photo of her closet with her iphone and her window, made me cry in joy.

Look for the channeling ability from a teacher not his shinning resume.

What he/she wants and to what level does he/she want?  This helps me to plan the lesson.
