David DiTrapani Music
About
I live and went to school in New York, obtaining a BFA in Music from the City College of New York and a MM in Jazz Performance from the Aaron Copland School of Music. As a trumpet player, I have played in a wide variety of musical settings, including jazz combos and big bands, concert bands and orchestras, Latin and salsa bands, and even the occasional rock band. I currently serve as a brass and piano instructor at several music schools in Queens and Long Island, and maintain my own active private teaching studio.
In addition to my musical endeavors, I was a math and English tutor during my college years, working primarily with elementary and middle school aged students in both individual and group settings. I also played varsity volleyball in high school and instructed a middle school volleyball club.
Years of teaching experience has shown me that everyone learns at a different pace. Rather than using a "one size fits all" approach, I tailor my lessons to each individual student, working with them to enhance their strengths and shore up any areas of improvement.
