About
I offer patient, easy-going, in-home and online lessons for students of all ages. For beginners, I focus on teaching you your favorite songs. For more advanced students I concentrate on theory and improvisation. I also focus on audition pieces for those entering music school or looking to improve NYSSMA scores.
There is nothing like watching a student go from knowing nothing about their chosen interest to being able to perform for their friends and loved ones. Even if the student has no performance aspirations, to help that person develop another vehicle for expression is an incredible privilege.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Usually I asked the student for five of their favorite songs and we figure out which will be the easiest when they can learn. As we continue to add more songs and more chords the songs will get more complex.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a degree in Philosophy and Theology from Boston College, and have been teaching professionally in the new York area since 2008. I have attended the Berklee summer program, and the Victor Wooten summer camp. I have studied with some of the best bass players in the world. I've also studied and taught drums and continue to study singing and piano and take dance lessons. I have been performing professionally in New York for 10 years.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
New York City and the North Shore of Long Island I charge $85/hour. For Queens I charge $60/hour.
How did you get started teaching?
I applied at a mom-and-pop music store on Long Island.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students as young as six years old and as old as 65.
