About
My name is Coach Darius Waters, known as coach D. I have been coaching youth & high school sports for the past 15 years and have a proven record of success in developing athletes to their fullest potential. I am passionate about working with young people and helping them to grow into leaders on and off the field.
I work hard to create a positive and supportive environment in which athletes can thrive. I am also a demanding coach, expecting athletes to give their best effort both in practice and in competition. My goal is to help athletes
I I have been a player of the game since. I have played competitive basketball and was a New York City All City First team player at New Utrecht High School in Brooklyn, NY. I was McDonald’s All-American Nominee. I also competed in the ABCD camp noted as one of the best camps in High School Basketball. I was highly recruited out of High School by Rutgers, Hofstra USC, Adelphi to name a few, but like most student athletes in my neighborhood lack of support and resources to pursue my dream at the division 1 Level.
My goal as a coach is to be instrumental developing their skills and achieve their personal best, as well as shaping and forming character, as well as work ethic in young people through the skills acquired in sports, such as hard work, dedication, fortitude, teamwork, and sportsman and apply it to real life situations.

I always want the client to give me a brief introduction on themselves as well as give them some insist on who I am. I am dedicated to giving the knowledge.
Meet and greet
Warm UP
Basic Skill test examing the client skill level. Everyone has a differentskill set. i like to start out with some basics layups, passing, dribbling, shooting, defense stance and some light conditioning. Want person to be comfortable but transparent that they are going to work hard.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am currently varsity assistant coach at Grand Street Campus High School in Brooklyn NY. Every summer I commit to coaching 15U and 11u Basketball youth basketball team i been doingt that for the last 8 10 years or so. I ran a clinics in my old neighhborhood in Brooklyn & Long Island last 7 years. I had the opportunity to coach 2 years at the Maccabi Games in 2019. Assistant coach to Riverside Hawks 5th grade Nationals 4th place team in 2017 Orlando Florida.
How did you get started teaching?
Like I said in my profile I have been life long learner of basketball it has been a passion and part of my life forever it has helped me travel and has instilled core values that atheletes take with them off the court as well as on the floor. I have been fortunate to been on AAU traveling teams have competed in D1 junior college on full scholorship. My dreams were deferred of playing professional basketball because I didnt have someone to push me to my full potential and the extra work that goes into being the best. I was comfortable with just being a local star but the lessons I learned friendships I've built are endless I always wanted to give that passion for the game and share those lessons with others.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
They should have and idea about why they are training? What they are trying to accomplish short term and long term? Ask themselves is this something they love to do or is it just hobby? Are they doing it for themselves is a big questions. And are they willing to push through the learning process. Dont be afraid to ask questions.
