How did you get started teaching?
Jenny began a love for the cello at eight years old while attending the Westchester Music and Arts Camp. As a professional musician, Jenny performs in Theater Companies and Symphony Orchestras all across Long Island. She has studied with the past principal of the New York Metropolitan Opera, Ruth Alsop. Jenny has had the privilege of performing with the Nassau Pops Symphony Orchestra with the headliners of Marvin Hamlisch, The Cast of Beatlemania, Randy Jackson and his Led Zeppelin Rock Symphony, the singing policeman Daniel Rodriguez, the recording artist and star of Jekyll & Hyde, Linda Eder, songwriter Jimmy Webb, The Frankie Valli Tribute Show Let's Hang On, Joe Piscopo, the singer/impressionist Marilyn Michaels, and tenor star Michael Amante. Some of her favorite shows she has performed in the pit for include Annie, Beauty and The Beast, Shrek The Musical, Joeseph and the Amazing Techniclor Dreamcoats, Jeckyl and Hyde, Phantom Of The Opera, Fiddler on The a Roof, West Side Story, and Pippin. In addition to performing and teaching Jenny holds a Masters Degree in Education in School Counseling. Playing an instrument can be a life long gift.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
The teacher needs to have a sense of humor and work well with people. They need to be 'in tune' to the needs of the individual and give a lot of positive encouragement!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
How much time do I have to put into this? Am I doing this for fun or for school? Do I like this instrument? Will I commit in the beginning when it may be a bit more technical and patience will be needed?
