What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I teach with a positive encouraging supportive artful insight of essential fundamentals: Corect posture , adjust correct Embouchure; focus air stream with essential breathing to create centered pitch - tonal dynamics with core tonal timbre, pedagogy techniques reinforced develop through essential scale chords arpeggios practice wt varied articulations -observe shape phrasings to strive for fluid musically expressive techniques with characteristic phrasing in all etudes excercises in methods books..Prepare pieces wt an understanding of the desired musical shapes enhance inherent stylistic characterizations through a diversified mix all classical - contemporary styles of literature. Develop repertoire. One can achieve musical fulfillment in all stages of development.. Students of all levels will improve with a clarity of understanding of "how to achieve success in practice ".. I've developed methodical strategies such as encouraging independence with insightful & specific music analysis.

35+yrs NYC Tri State ; free lance woodwinds: flutist ,clarinetist,saxophonist Jazz , classical & comtempory orchestras , metro chamber groups , musical theatre broadway shows , jazz , pop , studio commercial, music styles as a versatile woodwind musician. He has Toured US as lead reed chair wt National Theatre Orchestra in the past has been hired by major contractors employed as featured reeds; Sammy Davis Paul Anka Aretha Franklin & more than 100 solid gold artist as has been featured player on numerous tours US international..

How did you get started teaching?
As a talent scholarship recipient (W. Beeler ) from the Ithaca College School of Music , I was soon hired by Ithaca Comunity School of the Arts on thier woodwind faculty for a students grades 6-12, and at then Cornell University as sax flute clarinet imstuctor for college non music majors while living off campus in Ithaca NY and eventually accepted private students as my upstate playing reputation increased & my busy schedule allowed.
What types of students have you worked with?
I've taught all ages early youth to adult ... I've had some exceptional students that made Lincoln center youth ensembles. nyssma all county & all state groups some as 1st chair & students have received college scholarships a few became studio professionals broadway pits ,symphony orchestra and one a studio artist recording & performing wt such giants as Stevie Wonder or Prince !

an educator at heart a professionally & have enjoyed all levels & phases of teaching all students -begining - intermediate & of course those wt advanced continued interests that desire lots of challenge is great too ! I generally combine talking some instructional playing at each level and as students improve I employ more regular sight reading with traditional and challenging contemporary duets that sharpens students sight reading challenging their aquired skills..
