Soprano Jihee Kim, currently working at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York, this is her 4th season at the Met. She just finished performing in Macbeth singing Crowned Child at the Met and she is preparing to cover Zerlina(Don Giovanni) and Dew fairy(Hansel and Gretel).

Jihee Kim made her professional debut in 2013 both at the Sopleto Festival in Charleston, SC and at the Lincoln Center Festival in New York singing ‘Murasame’ from ‘Matzukaze’. The same year she made her debut at the Metropolitan Opera New York singing ‘Unborn child 1(off stage)’ from ‘Die Frau ohne Schatten’ and ‘Wood spirite 1(stage debut)’ from ‘Rusalka’. Also she performed in the lovers’ quartet from ‘The enchanted island’. Since she joined the roster in 2009, she has covered ‘Barbarina(Le nozze di Figaro)’, ‘Flowermaiden(Parsifal), ‘American suburban girl(Two boys).

Her opera roles have included, Pamina in Mozart's Die Zauberflöte (Peabody 2008), Violetta from La Traviata (Peabody 2009), Susanna from Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro (Yale 2010), the Nightingale from Stravinsky’s Le Rossigol(Yale 2010), Zerlina in Mozart’s Don Giovanni (Yale 2011) and Belinda from Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas(Yale 2011).

She made her solo debut at the Peabody singing Poulenc's Gloria with the Peabody Concert Orchestra. In 2009, 2010 and 2011 she was a soloist in Mahler’s Symphony No. 4 with the Yale Philharmonia, Norfolk Chamber Music Festival and Orchestra New England. In 2010, she was a soprano soloist in the Messiah by Handel with Hartford Symphony Orchestra. In 2011, she was selected to sing in the Classic Night Concert in Zurich.

She has also participated in the ‘Marlboro Chamber Music Festival’, the ‘SongFest’, and the ‘Britten-Pears Programme’.

Soprano Jihee Kim was born in the small Korean town of Nonsan. She has started playing the piano since the age of six and she found her musical talent in her childhood. And she continued her musical education and after finishing her B.M(Bachelor of Music) in South Korea, her passion for both opera and art songs brought her to the United States to study voice further.

She was an M.M(Master of Music) and G.P.D(Graduate Performance Diploma) candidate in voice at the Peabody Conservatory of Music in Baltimore under the instruction of world famous Engligh bass-baritone, John Shirley-Quirk and Ah Young Hong. In addition, Ms. Kim earned the Opera A.D(Artistic Diploma) at the Yale School of Music studying with voice instructor Doris Yarick-Cross.

Jihee Kim has worked with many famous coaches, directors, and conductors including Timothy Shaindlin (Yale), Nelson Calzi (Teatro di Milano), Jonathan Kelly (Metropolitan Opera), Marc Verzatt, Mark Streshinsky, Sam Helfrich, Garnett Bruce, etc.
