Clive Jacobson, is a multi-award winning graphic artist and illustrator in New York City. Clive paints portraits and landscapes in oils and acrylics, and lives and works in Manhattan.
Clive teaches as an adjunct at NYU (New York University), providing courses in Drawing, Conceptualization, Visual Semiotics and Design Principles.
In 2012, Clive Jacobson's first co-illustrated book, Jacobsonjoy, was sold out at MOMA in New York 2012.
I am passionate about art and design. My job is my hobby. I enjoy teaching and sharing my knowledge and years of practical experience with others, especially if it can make a difference by inspiring someone to learn to "see" anew...

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I have a series of questions to help establish their experience, capabilities, and intentions.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have an Art College degree, 35yrs of award winning design and art experience with over 10yrs continuous teaching as an adjunct professor at NYU (New York University) -School of Continued Education. Taught at Oxbridge-Barnard College this summer 2019. I DO everyday, that which I teach.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Fees are around $90 per hour, based on the amount of lessons desired.
How did you get started teaching?
Having won almost every award my industry offers, I was approached by NYU in 2007 to teach design.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with a very wide variety of students-from older teenagers through people in their 60's. From varied cultural backgrounds and ethnic groups.
Also students at various levels of proficiency from new, or early beginners to professionals.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I enjoy watching professional soccer from England.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Evaluate the teacher based on their track record, portfolio and what your instinct tells you about how you think you will connect with this teacher.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Try think 'big picture' and what you hope to learn in order to achieve your goals and desires.
