What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Depending on students knowledge of a given subject, I would access their capabilities and work towards fostering their creative talent with practical hands-on applications to achieving their goals.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
A degree in Graphic Art and Design and over 30 years of award-winning creative for a variety of companies and industries. Also have taught over 12 years as an adjunct professor at NYU school of Professional Studies, both off and online.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Around $80 per hour. Fee can be negotiated based on amount of lessons.
How did you get started teaching?
I was approached by NYU to teach, via my professional award-winning portfolio.
What types of students have you worked with?
Have worked with highschool students through all ages and professionals from within the creative industry and from other professions wishing to switch or learn more about graphic art and design.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
A recent student of mine at Barnard (Columbia) who went from being not very interested to wanting to now make design her chosen career, was very gratifying to me.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look at their portfolio and teaching experience.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What their intentions and expectations should be, how much time and effort are they willing to make to learning, what do they enjoy doing the most and what supplies and equipment would they need.
