Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Depending on what the student is interested in learning or creating and what level they are at; I generally begin with conversation, maybe sharing some interesting images or videos of artists at work.
It is good to put a new student at ease in a quiet setting at first(maybe some music) basic mediums, perhaps a few sketches of still life objects or sketches from an image in book or photograph. If they are interested in abstract, I would have them begin with small squares on paper with colored pencils and then transfer to larger surface.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a BFA from Boston University and studied all elements of drawing, painting, printmaking and graphic design.
I have been a graphic designer and fine artist for 20+ years.
