As a cartoonist I approach everything with a sense of humor. I have a lot of patience, and even if I'm running short I'm told it doesn't show.
I enjoy getting to draw and I think everyone should do it more. Those who say they can't draw just haven't practiced enough.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Our first session is generally a little longer as I try to find out about you - what your eperience level is, what materials and subjects interest you.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a BA from Pratt Institute and a long career as a cartoonist and caricature artist.

How did you get started teaching?
Someone asked my wife if she knows an art teacher and she said "yes."

Beginner elementary students and moderate level adults looking to sharpen their skill or solve a problem in a current work.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
You are looking to learn but also enjoy. Try to find someone who is personable and their work strikes a chord with you.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
If you have goals that you want to accomplish such as
a) learn perspective
b) learn figure drawing
c) learn shading
that helps me tailor the lesson plan to you and give you measurable goals to feel proud of.
