Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
My main goal is to get the student to where they need to be by any means necessary - so we will always start with an assessment of where they're at, what they want to do, and how we can get there.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
In addition to working with clients big and small, I have a lot of experience teaching creative skills. From personal photography lessons for kids and adults, to TA-ing User Experience and creative programming classes in college, to teaching Adobe Suite to many peers over the years, if you can imagine it - we can do it.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I usually default to $150/hr of teaching on average, but I am flexible and willing to negotiate to something that works for you.
How did you get started teaching?
It has always been a joy of mine! I don't remember exactly how or when, but I hope to do it as long as I can.
What types of students have you worked with?
Children as young as preschool, adults as old as (I can only guess)... Creative geniuses, self-described non-creatives... I've had college students, volunteers, and professional peers in lessons - I would say I've worked with almost any 'type' of person there is!
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I love Comic-Con - I got to cover it a few years ago with Nickelodeon's Social Media team and am itching to return.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find someone you enoy hanging out with - and as long as they seem to know what they're doing - the rest should come naturally. And make sure to ask questions!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Most importantly - what is it you want to do? And how can I help you get there?
