Paul Westlake, a British-born Australian photographer, embarked on his career in 1985 in Sydney, Australia, swiftly establishing himself as a prominent figure in the industry. His pivotal contributions to the successful launch of ELLE Magazine in Australia in 1989 underscored his influence on the fashion landscape. Securing a contract with MARIE CLAIRE during the magazine's inception in Australia in 1994 further cemented his reputation as a highly esteemed photographer. Relocating to New York City in 1996, Paul continued his collaborations with prestigious international publications, including Harper’s Bazaar, Vogue, Elle, Marie Claire, Grazia, and GQ, shooting for their international editions across Europe, London, and New York City. He has also worked with a diverse range of clients, including luxury fashion houses, renowned beauty brands, and prominent retailers. His immersion in the glamorous realm of fashion is evident in all his work.
In 2018, Paul's photography found a home in the prestigious suites of The Carlyle Hotel, New York. Beyond photography, he actively contributes to the production and publication of the esteemed magazine 'PAN & THE DREAM,' collected by renowned institutions worldwide, including the MoMA, George Eastman Museum in Rochester, Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, and The Metropolitan Museum of Art. Additionally, Paul is the Co-founder and curator of the online platform, the Fashion Photography Museum.
He continues to explore the intersection of art and fashion, driven by his enduring passion for photography, and is currently working on compiling a book of photographs from his extensive archive.
