    Frequently asked questions

I prioritize safety, progress, and comfort when working with new students. Our sessions start with gentle stretching to warm up the muscles. I assess the student's skill level and goals, then tailor the lesson accordingly. We ride around the park to get familiar with the skateboard. Building a solid foundation and comfort are key. My aim is to create a supportive environment where students can develop their skills and achieve their goals.
I have 10 years of experience as a coach and mentor at the Harold Hunter Foundation, where I taught skateboarding lessons to inner-city youth. My role extended beyond skateboarding, as I also supported them in their daily lives, including home, school, and personal matters. Additionally, I worked as a skateboard coach at the Go Sports USA foundation, teaching skateboarding as an after-school activity.
Private Lessons are $70 per lesson Group Lessons Are $50 per lesson (2+ppl)
With my passion for skateboarding, I naturally transitioned into teaching unofficially as I honed my skills on the board. Recognizing the positive impact I could make, I pursued opportunities as a Coach/Mentor with esteemed organizations like the Harold Hunter Foundation and the Go Sports USA foundation. Through these experiences, I have been able to actively contribute to my local skateboarding community, and I remain dedicated to fostering positive change wherever I go.
Throughout my teaching journey, I have had the privilege of working with students of various ages, spanning from children to adults. Regardless of their skill level, I have consistently witnessed remarkable progress as they swiftly transitioned from beginners to intermediate and advanced levels. It is important to note that this progression is achieved through the dedication and time invested by the students themselves on the skateboard.
In a recent lesson, I had the incredible opportunity to work with an 11-year-old student who was eager to conquer the quarter pipe at his local skatepark. Witnessing his determination and enthusiasm during our very first session was truly awe-inspiring. It reminded me of the profound impact skateboarding can have on individuals of all ages, empowering them to overcome challenges and embrace their true potential. Moments like these reaffirm my commitment to teaching and empowering others through skateboarding, as I believe that every journey on the board holds the potential for growth and personal triumph.
When selecting an instructor, it's crucial to ensure they possess the necessary expertise in skateboarding. Verify that they have a deep understanding of the techniques and concepts they will be teaching. Equally important is their commitment to safety. Your instructor should prioritize creating a secure learning environment, enforcing proper safety measures, and providing guidance to prevent injuries. Lastly, seek an instructor who exudes a genuine love and passion for skateboarding. Their enthusiasm will not only make the learning process enjoyable but also inspire you to cultivate your own passion for this exhilarating sport. Remember, choosing the right instructor sets the foundation for a fulfilling and transformative skateboarding journey.
Before approaching teachers about your needs, it's beneficial to consider a few key questions. Firstly, reflect on your specific objectives and goals in skateboarding. What skills do you aspire to develop? Are there any particular challenges you hope to overcome? Additionally, consider your learning style and preferences. Do you thrive in individual or group settings? Are you more inclined towards structured lessons or a more flexible approach? By contemplating these aspects beforehand, you can articulate your needs more effectively and engage in meaningful discussions with potential instructors.
