About this pro

Trying to get to the next level? Let The Sharpened Athlete help you get there. We offer personal soccer training for soccer players of all levels by licensed coaches. Training sessions are individualized and based on the needs of each player. Sessions can focus on ball mastery, technical work, position specific work, speed, agility, reaction and decision making. Each session will challenge the player in a fun and engaging atmosphere. I also offer mental skills consulting for athletes: It is typically said that sports is 90% mental and 10% physical, but we train athletes as if it is 90% physical. The mind should be trained just like the body. The mission of The Sharpened Athlete is to train athletes and teams using mental skills techniques to consistently obtain their peak athletic performance.

FAQs

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

Typically we have a phone conversation on what the athlete needs.  We then set up an introductory training session where we can evaluate the athlete.  After the first training session we can collaborate on what package best meets the athlete's needs.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have an Advance National Soccer Diploma from the United Soccer Coaches.

I hold a MS in Coaching and a MA in Sport-Exercise Psychology.

All of our coaches on staff are licensed be either USC or USSF.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

Different coaches have different rates at The Sharpened Athlete.  We do offer packages to bring down prices and if you work with a small group we can bring down the prices even further.

How did you get started teaching?

As a team coach I realized that every player on my team needed individual attention that I was unable to do in a team atmosphere.  Being a private or small group soccer trainer has enabled me to help players focus on what they need to help get to the next level of their development.  Individual attention is key to success in any instructional environment.

What types of students have you worked with?

I have done 3 year old classes all the way through aspiring professional players.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

I suggest having multiple conversations with trainers to make sure you enjoy their style.

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?

What are your strengths?

What are your weaknesses?

Where do you lack confidence?
