About
Many players simply don't have a solid foundation of basketball fundamentals, whether it is basic basketball skills, motor skills and movements and mindset to play the game successfully. As it relates to the game, many are trying to run before they can walk.
I use fun, challenging games and methods to teach and drill these basic skills of the game, and the motor movement and mindset necessary to execute those skill in the game situation. I use small-sided games (i.e.-1v1, 2v2, 3v3). In addition, I use old-school repetition, pre and post training evaluation, hoopwork (a.k.a.-homework), and follow up visits to players' club or school games, and drop by driveway hoop sessions.
Finally, players are often far too dependant on a coach or trainer in the long run. I work with players to develop a plan to consistently work on thier game at home or at the park with limited resources and how to be creative in developing thier game.
My current role as a head junior varsity high school coach and middle school teacher at a private school in Rochester, NY area, along with previous coaching of boys and girls at all levels K-12 and P. E. Teaching experience, have helped prepare me to serve players well.
I have coaching experience in basketball from bitty ball to high school varsity. I have coached for nearly 20 years. I have been conducting private basketball lessons since 2014.
I most enjoy working to help young people see thier full potential and using athletics to prepare youth to be confident, hardworking, productive and passionate citizens of quality character.
