Erika’s Flute Lessons
About
I have always loved music, but it took me a long time to overcome my struggles and obstacles while learning the flute. I wanted to become a teacher in order to not only share this love of music, but to also help them work through these same struggles more easily. My goal for every student is to help them cultivate this same love for music and the flute, and also show them that music is so much more than just something we listen to.
Music is all about relationships, and that's part of what I enjoy most about teaching. I love being able to meet new people and cultivate a bond through music. Music is where I have always truly expressed myself and that's exactly what I encourage in my students as they are learning and growing.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When starting with a new student, the first thing I do is allow the student to play a bit so I can get a gauge on what level they are at. From there, I develop ideas on where to go and what would be most beneficial to start with to encourage growth.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I currently have 3 degrees from Schenectady County Community College (Certificate in Music, A.S. In Music Performance, A.A.S. In Audio Recording Technology). I received my Bachelor's in Music from Nazareth College, double majoring in Music Education and Flute Performance. Also from Nazareth College, I received my Master's in Music Performance and Pedagogy specializing in flute in May 2022.
