Artistic Vision Design & Splash Mob Painting Parties
About
I'm a marketing and graphic design professional who owns a freelance business, but I started out as a fine artist when I was a teen. I also did professional illustration work for ad agencies for 3+ decades. I had been teaching since 2011 but I started having painting parties 5 years later. It all began when a graphic design client asked me if I paint. I said yes, and also taught it in a small studio in Victor (I'm not there any longer). He asked me if I would consider doing a painting party at his place of business. I said, sure. But, being in marketing and also being a designer, I thought, I might as well make a logo. Things got rolling and Splash Mob Painting Parties' popularity exploded.
I'm a creative. I have to create or I'm not happy. Teaching someone who thinks they have no artistic ability to draw or paint, is very rewarding for me.
We all have different degrees of (or lack of) natural artistic abilities. I especially love it when I teach someone who feels that they don't have any abilities. I tell them that's it's more important to express themselves through art and even if they can't paint like Leonardo DiVinci. Art is an expression of one's soul. We all have beauty we can create through art.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
It depends if I'm teaching a painting student one-on-one or doing a painting party (including dancing, singing, and painting on canvas).
Let's talk.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Rochester Institute of Technology - Art and Design
Graphic Careers - Professional Illustration Classes
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
No. There are too many variables.
How did you get started teaching?
Just read my intro.
What types of students have you worked with?
From beginner to intermediate.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
My painting party at Broccolo Garden Center where we celebrated my birthday. One of my students made me a custom sheet cake and decorated it stunningly with a paint pallet, paint splotches, and a paintbrush. We all had a blast that night. I had 22 people who came to paint and celebrate with me.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure they weren't taught to paint by a national paint party chain. Some of them don't have an ounce of artistic ability, but have been taught how to do template paintings in steps.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What do you hope to accomplish? To paint expressively? Realistically? Just landscapes? Also, as I stated in my intro, remember that we all have different degrees of artistic abilities. Don't be discouraged from expressing yourself through art just because you think you don't have any abilities. Hogwash. Art is an expression of one's soul. We all have an inner beauty that we can express through art. And, it's fun.
