About

Music-lovers welcome! :)

We're here to share light so you can make noise better.

I love how music can be body-movin' and also it can lift up our hearts & minds when we surround ourselves with the right people.

...from collaborator-friends, & performers, to teaching-artists, etc. Balancing good vibes & discipline takes work, but hey! '...practice makes progress!'

Call us to share the goals & challenges you're facing right now in the music space because whether you (the student) are playing in a band, orchestra, choir, musical theater troupe, writing your own songs, or making beats on your own... Music is the soundtrack of your life!

Our students live primarily in:

•CT, NY, MA, PA, RI, DE, VA, GA, NC, ID, KY, FLA

•your zip code soon?

We proudly work with children (ages: 7+), students with special needs, students of all abilities, seniors, veterans, worship leaders, and homeschool groups.

Looking forward to hearing what inspires you most about music and cultivating THAT.

Feel free to contact us anytime to chat about the next steps.

Thanks!

-Tom Stroll

What I like about working with Tom is the environment he’s created during his lessons. I was a complete beginner when I started learning guitar with Tom, but he’s really encouraged me to try new things and to ask questions. I feel like I’m being pushed in the right direction without it being overwhelming. Now, after about 2 months, when I sit down with my guitar outside of our lessons I feel confident in what I’m playing. And if I don’t at first, I know I can figure it out!

My daughter is 8 years old and has been playing with Tom over a year now. Tom is very knowledgeable, talented and extremely patient. Morgan has made immense progress since her lessons began. Highly recommend Tom as a teacher.

As an adult learning to broaden my writing skills to include my interest in music, I am absolutely ecstatic to find Tom Stroll and Chris Hutchins from MMS. Going about my weekly routine, my songwriting class is the high point of each week. Chris is so friendly, knowledgeable and a great teacher who finds and builds on the positive! He has such great energy and enthusiasm! MMS is definitely the place to go to broaden your skills!

I have been Playing classical violin for 10 years and wanted to experiment with Fiddling. Mindful music and Kensuke has maid it a easy transition. I expected it to be painful to switch between such different styles of playing and learning but it has been quite easy and has made me exceedingly happy.

    Frequently asked questions

•Sharing the joy & power of musical experiences with vivid interactive-storytelling; •Listening for your needs & dreams—short-term & long-term—to guide you (the student) in developing your own way (a) to diagnose breakdowns, AND (b) to grow & thrive as you continue to level up your musical noise-making with your friends and/or on your own! For young creatives, getting out of our own way is often the first step.

When I was 6 years old, I saw the first "Jurassic Park" movie in theaters and was BLOWN AWAY COMPLETELY by the soundtrack!! My dad suggested I become a professional composer. Gradually it became a part of my identity. My parents worked overtime to support my love of music & intellectual curiosity with quality private music lessons.
Students of all colors, ethnicities, genders, heights, shapes, & sizes are welcome. Children (Ages 7) to Adults ...of all skill levels & abilities; I specialize in creating solid foundations for passionate beginners who are serious about having fun while learning to make music AND even adult pros & semi-pros like to go 'back to basics' with me to fill in the gaps; on different instruments, styles, & techniques. I've taught Ages 2+, but only teach 7+ these days. I teach seniors looking to stay sharp & enthused, I've taught veterans, home school groups, worship leaders, students on the Autism/Aspergers spectrum, students with ADHD, students with repetitive stress injuries, Glaucoma, Dyslexia and other learning disabilities. I've overcome at least two of these challenges myself, but won't say which ones. Lmao! There are many doors into the same room, so when one approach doesn't work, we try a different door until one cracks open, then we let ourselves in to the good vibes. All genres are welcome. Let's take a swing at it!

During the Pandemic lockdown, we had recitals on Zoom that made a lot of people smile. Some students baked cookies & others got out a smoke machine. Lolz

And we all changed the Zoom background to red velvet curtains to elevate the performance experience a bit more. It all came together to create something fun & memorable for everybody in the space. :)

    Ask yourself:

Is the teacher listening to my needs & wants? Can they shine light on an area that needs more exploring, on a weekly basis? Am I having fun & smiling & having 'aha' moments frequently? Am I improving while still having fun?

Am I playing an instrument that suits me? in my preferred style? with and for the right audience? in a space & environment that supports my musical needs & likes?

how much time am I willing to commit to mastering my craft? (because this doesn't happen overnight. We are looking for relationships of 1-5years with students who want to completely transform their playing and experience of music).

Am I playing just for the fun of it, or do I want to pursue this as a side-hustle? ...as a career? ...or for the greater good of the community even?

Lots to unpack here... but let's chat today to see if we're a good fit.
