Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We gauge their skill level, interests, goals and what the student would like to achieve through each lesson. we cater to each student differently and to give them an expeptional experience through vreating and finding their own creative journey
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a BFA from the School of Visual Arts in NYC in Fine Arts and Computer Design.I have been an instructor in Art and Design since 2002. I have 20 years of experience as a professional designer and artist in textiles and fashion goods as well as commissioned my own private work and several shows at galleries and the Art Expo in NYC. I also have had several years of experience giving group and private lessons in painting and design.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
For one private in person lesson it normally costs $70 and the first lesson includes a complimentary 20-30 minutes and is a full hour and a half. For a private virtual lesson it is $50. For packages or 10 lessons the student will receive a great discount. Most like to start with purchasing a single lesson to get the feel of the class and then purchase a package, but some like to get the savings immeditaley. Whatever works best for the student.
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching after graduating college in a small private school in NYC. After years of working in the field I began offering lessons privately in 2018. It has been a very satisfying and gratifying experience.I love seeing my students progress and am always grateful to be part of the experience.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with Students ages 5 - 85. I am happy to give references. Currently I have many students that range from ages 7-15. But I love working with people of all ages and helping them become the artist they aspire.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I started offering virtual online classes during COVID for children. It has been very successful and parents have been raving about how I have helped their children grow and become happier through this difficult time while being patient and guiding them at becoming better artists while having fun.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look for an art instructor who is Patient, Creative, inspiring, understanding as well as respectful. Art is a very personal subject. Art is for everyone! Sometimes you have to find the right instructor to guide you through the process. I hope you find that in me as these are all of my characteristics.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Think about your interests. What do you love most when thnking about art. Is it color, texture, subject matter, style? Is it all of it? Is it the size of the work and what you wish to gain from the experience of instruction? Be clear and thoughtful on what you wish to learn and each painting instruction will be a fully creative experience. I promise you!
