My love of color and the way it can evoke an emotion is what inspires me as an artist. I believe art should be uplifting and have a pleasing visual effect. For me, painting keeps me in the present. This has enabled me to become very aware of my surroundings and transfer that to my work. Spending time in my studio awards me a certain calmness. Being able to share my joy and teach my students is truly rewarding.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I get to know the student to access their level of experience and learning style. I then introduce the student to the materials used. Eg. gesso, paint, acrylics, ink, charcoal, glazes, paper, brushes. I find that most students work best by watching and then finding their own creative style to follow along. I am very patient and give clear instruction so my student can develop confidence.
