Melodicello Studio

I am foremost interested in teaching students that have a love for the cello and will enjoy working to achieve exciting results. If a student is willing to work hard, I am willing to put all my energy into making them the best cellist possible.

I have been a professional orchestral player, freelance musician, public school orchestra director, youth orchestra director and educational arts specialist for many years. The years of experience diverse areas of music has enlightened my private teaching.

As a private cello teacher, I have experise in all levels. I am Suzuki trained and enjoy starting students with their first lessons in order to insure a great foundation. From that point, with a dedicated student it is possible to develop their abilty over many years to become wonderful cellist who will enjoy playing for a lifetime. I usually retain students through their high school years and many go on to study music in college or conservatories. Quite a few have won competiions and have been accepted to prestigious summer festivals.

My usual format is weekly lessons in my studio with 3 recitals per year. At the present time I am honing my skills in teaching remotely and presenting recitals virtually. For the first time I feel that I can accept students for online lessons who are not able to come to my studio in person.

Although the majority of my students range from 8-22, I do also teach a few adults who are currently making great progress.

In the last few years I have put my studio performances on Melodicello YouTube Channel. Prosepective students are welcome to view them as it will give you an idea of the age range and various levels of advancement. It will also be possible to follow the same student over a period of many years which should be helpful in presenting a perspective on general rates of progress.

I am particularly intriqued by cello pedagogy and find it very gratifying to develop students ability over many years. The majority of my students began study with me at a young age and continue for many years until graduation and sometimes even through their college years. I am equally happy to teach committed adults and have seen wonderful results.

It is wonderful to feel that I have helped so many students become such accomplished cellists. I am fortunate to have very commited parents and ambitious students. I very much enjoy being their musical mentor and developing long friendships with students and parents.
