I’m an award-winning professional visual artist and visual arts instructor with a BFA in Fine Art from Cooper Union. I exhibit extensively and sell my work nationally and internationally.
I work in pencil, acrylic, oil and watercolor in a variety of styles and subject matter (portraits, still-lives, landscapes, abstract designs).
I teach art to people of all ages and also help HS students prepare portfolios for art college acceptance. You can see some of my drawings at: www.maxinenodel.com
I am currently teaching at the National Art League of Long Island and am the founder of an art high school in NYC.
I enjoy the entire creative process! I enjoy capturing life in pencil or paint or creating beautiful designs from imagination and nature. I love how a work of art evolves from basic form or a few lines into a fully developed image. - I enjoy studying light and shadow, color, textures and patterns.

I first ask students what type of art they’re passionate about learning, and then I ask them about the specific types of skills they wish to learn or strengthen. - If they have done some art, I ask them to share it with me, so I can get a sense of their passions and skill levels. - I then begin a lesson with a demonstration followed by the student trying it, etc.
I have a BFA from the Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art and an MFA from Brooklyn College.
