Hello! My name is Alexis Wolfe Mbassa. I have worked as a freelance Music and Portrait Photographer since 2001. My clients include Cornell University, Digital Underground, Cîroc Vodka, Concert Venues, actors, musicians, individuals, and families. My website is: https://www.alexiswolfephotography.com. I am also an early childhood teacher and have mentored teens in photography. I currenly have collage-aged assistants that help with my shoots and I realized that I have a new love of teaching photography skills to them. I had such great teachers and mentors growing up and I would love to be that for someone else. Helping a student reach their goals, and create beautiful pieces of art is just as exciting to me as when I do!

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We will begin by working together to specify your personal goals with photography. I will then outline a course for you based on your budget, the skill, and the amount of time you'd like to dedicate to this course!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have BA degrees in Photography and Spanish as well as a Masters in Early Childhood Education. I have taught and mentored students ages 6-22. I'd love to work with other ages as well!
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I like to price the lessons as a package, rather than by hour. We will work together to find your perfect package. Courses will be 4-6 weeks.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
- Be as specific about your goals as possible.
- Finding a teacher who you get along with is important. It will make everything more enjoyable and you'll be more excited to come to lessons.
- There are many amazing photographers out there, but not everyone knows how to teach. I realized this with my own schooling. It's best to find someone who is excited about teaching and knows how to work with students.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
There are so many skills and sides to photography: Technical skills in Digital SLR, film cameras, natural lighting, portraiture and posing, storytelling, projects, studio lighting, business and marketing....
