About
I am an experienced photographer and Fine-artist with a wide range of skills and interests. I have published and exhibited work and assisted many individuals in achieving their personal, academic, and artistic goals. I strive for balance in my own work and in the work of my students. I have completed considerable education in the field of the arts, psychology, and education.
Among the most rewarding benefits of teaching and mentoring is seeing the progress and gradual success of my students. Some have come very far, others have gone further than I could ever have imagined.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Looking for their strengths, interests and personal goals in an effort to help them fulfill their own expectations.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
From high school to post-grad degrees in the arts including English, psychology, photography, studio arts, drawing, photoshop, movie production, AP art instruction, and career mentoring.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Individualized teaching and mentoring can vary depending on meeting time and ability for the student to afford the cost. I am flexible and willing to discuss. Typically I would charge 50 to 75 per hour but have worked for 25 to 100 depending on travel distance and circumstance.
How did you get started teaching?
I began with an interest in crafts, drawing, painting, and music. I was asked to create a brochure for a community center which eventually led to teaching after school classes and later formal certification.
What types of students have you worked with?
All levels of age, ability, personal and physical challenges. Young people lacking confidence and resources. I have always been committed to my students young and old.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I am currently working with a young man who has a specific art related goal in mind as a career. His challenges are many including learning ability, he has strived for some degree of professional success. After many rejections and failed attempts he was hired to work on a series of projects. Although part-time and limited work his name will be included in the credits and he is proud of his achievement.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Teachers like everyone else vary in their ability and in their sincerity. Find out about their training, education, and experience. Ask them what they know about your area of interest and how they think they can be of help. Don’t assume that the one that charges the most is the best “fit” as a teacher but don’t settle for the least expensive either. Look for a balance of information, cost, knowledge, and even compassion.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
I suggest coming up with two or three hypothetical situations regarding their approach to teaching and see how they respond. How would they deal with a lack of confidence, a learning disability, or a need for perfection? Fees, curriculum, and personal philosophy are all important, find someone who will help benefit your interests or at the least help clarify them.
