Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We schedule a regular weekly time, the first lesson is free. At the first lesson, I will evaluate the student's abilities and discuss goals for them. We will then make a plan for lessons. I will determine if the student is best served by using a method book, or if handouts and other materials would be more appropriate. I will also evaluate the guitar they plan to us to make sure they have a reasonable instrument. After the first lesson, students will have a weekly lesson based on their specific goals and interests.

What types of students have you worked with?
I work with students of all ages and levels. If you looking for guitar lessons for yourself or child, you have come to the right place. My goal is to help students develop a life-long love for music making, either an amateur or a professional. I offer the very best in quality instruction in an excellent facility that is spacious and quiet. I teach guitar, bass, songwriting, computer recording, music theory, and will work with any instrumentalist on improvising or general musicianship. Your satisfaction is my goal.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Ask if teaching is their primary passion. Many people who offer lessons actually want to be performers, and as a result, often reschedule or miss lessons in order to play gigs. The secret to getting better is to have regular weekly lessons and also be able to set aside the time to practice between lessons. Do this and you will get better!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What do you want to learn? How do you best learn; books, show-me, video? Why do you want to take lessons; for fun, relaxation, to become a professional?
