About

My name is Alison and I teach for ETB Music and Fine Arts at the beautiful Madcap Education Center in the historic Westwood business district. It’s a great location near several restaurants and the large art classroom is a very inspiring space with big windows and great lighting.

From young children to teens and adults, I help students of all ages gain confidence in their artistic abilities! I offer classes in a variety variety of media. We teach drawing in charcoal, graphite, color pencil, pastel, as well as painting in oils, acrylics, watercolor, and gouache. I also offer sculpture classes. We teach abstraction, realism and impressionism. Students have the opportunity to learn about the unique properties of each material.

One of the things that gives me great joy in life is to see my students accomplish their goals and dreams! It is an honor to walk with them as they grow and learn and to show them what they're capable of doing with a little help and coaching. Helping students hone their skills and develop their talents is so rewarding!

I took one of Alisons painting classes and had a great time and learned so much. Her teaching style was fun and encouraging, while still being very impactful. She was well prepared for the class and the venue she chose made for a very eclectic, fashionable experience. Whether you are serious about becoming an artist or just looking for a way to have fun in a creative, artistic environment, I highly recommend taking one of Alisons classes.

Alison is fantastic, she presents things step by step to get the results you want. She is encouraging and takes her time to guild you through the whole process, showing tips along the way. The results always amaze me - just love taking classes from her! Thanks

I attended an art class given by Alison. I went into the class with zero knowledge of art or painting. In just that first experience ,I feel that I learned so much interesting information. Alison is able to teach a class, even if you have never done it before. I found it to be very relaxing and my first painting turned out better than I had expected. My girlfriends and I had a great time with Alison.

    Frequently asked questions

I like to see what a student's dreams and desires are, what their goals are, what they want to learn, and then tailor their projects and assignments around their goals.

Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting

Master of Fine arArts in Printmaking

Two hour group courses are $40 per session for adults. Private lessons for a half hour are $30.

I was a professor for over 10 years, and in 2014 left my job to pursue art full-time. I currently offer classes every week and my private Studio. This is a unique opportunity for students to learn in a small classroom setting while also seeing the work that I do and my studio everyday.

I have worked with students of all ages. I enjoy working with teens, adults and retirees. It's been my experience that they are very hungry to learn!

There are many things to consider when choosing a teacher. I would say the primary concern for the student would be to make sure that the teacher is sensitive to their own unique goals as a budding artist.
