About
I remember being someone who wanted to try to paint oils, but had avoided art because I never thought I could do it. You see it wasn't too very long ago that I finally tried it and absolutely fell in love with painting. Now, I'd like to pass along some of the things I've learned along the way.
I paint quite a bit of wet on wet in the style of Bob Ross (I am NOT a Bob Ross Inc certified instructor) and Bill Alexander.
I also paint more detailed and advanced work using underpaintings and color glazes in the MazArt Studio method.
I am not "certified" by anyone but dalecullenART. I'm just a guy who loves to paint and I'd love to have a "paint along" (as I like to call them) with someone
Painting will do three things for you if you allow it. Painting will bring joy to your heart, peace to your soul, and it will place a smile upon your face. This is what I have found. This is what I have.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I can come to you if you're local to Cincinnati. Or, I am open to a video paint along. I'm easy going. We can make it work. 🤘🏻😎👍🏻
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've taken a couple of classes. I've attended workshops taught by Steve Ross and Dana Jester. Steve is Bob Ross' son and Dana Jester an artist friend of Bob's from way back. Honestly though, I'm mainly self taught.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Basic wet on wet landscapes start at $50. More advanced paintings will of course cost more.
How did you get started teaching?
I've just had folks ask. People who know me and such. So I taught them and now their art hangs in their homes. That brought me a lot of joy.
What types of students have you worked with?
Friends and friends of friends
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Painting at the Ross-Jester workshop. I not only got to paint with and hang out with Steve and Dana, I got to meet and paint with artists I follow on social media. It was a BLAST!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Someone who not only wants to teach you to paint, but also wants you to know the joy that painting can bring.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
I think it's more about "how will teacher and I relate", but:
1-what do I need to get started? I address this in a video on YouTube.
2-what will we paint?
3-when can we make this happen? 😃
