Hal Melia

I am Assistant Professor of Music and Director of Jazz Studies at Central State University. I have over 40 years professional playing experience on everything from Hollywood motion pictures to major label recordings. I do all the woodwinds, specializing in clarinets, flutes, and saxophones, both classical and jazz. I also teach vocal styles and scat singing, also jazz keyboard.

Music chose me, I did not choose it. Such is the way with art - I just love to play and love to reach people by portraying a wide variety of emotions using instruments and voice. Nothing tickles me more than when a student picks up on that passion - it is something we carry with us the rest of our lives!
