Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I fully and verbally instruct each pose. I demonstrate and instruct an alternative to each pose. I help assist the student to align in the pose. I ask if there are any restrictions or ailments we can work through. I love to ask for feedback during and after the practice!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a 200H certified Astanga yoga instructor. I took a communications class in school. I work and volunteer with the public in various ways.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My Sunset Yoga is a $5 minimum donations class. My other classes can range from $5-15 classes. A good pricing system compared to studio instructors. I am there to help, not to get paid well.
How did you get started teaching?
In 2012, I took yoga classes as an alternative to medications for pain and anxious. After just several classes, I was feeling the benefits! I knew right then that I wanted to help others discover it! I jumped into training and was certified in March of 2013.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students of all ages and all sizes. That's what great about teaching beginners yoga, discovering that anyone who wants to can do it!
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I just had a yoga event class at a local winery (John Christ Winery in Avon Lake). We had a nice size class full of people of all ages and sizes. I co-instructed with my friend and former yoga training classmate. Just for $15, we offered yoga, wine, juice, foods and raffle for gifts. I think it is lovely to come together after yoga and interact with each other while enjoying some wine and food!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
If you are brand new to yoga, please choose an instructor who is focused on beginners level yoga.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Are you new?
Do you have any ailments or limitations?
Do you prefer a lower or higher level yoga?
Would you need any equipment, like straps or blocks?
