About
Thank you for visiting and I appreciate your interest in taking art lessons! I am passionate about art and love to teach drawing. I believe that being passionate isn't something that can be imitated.
Good drawing skills are an important aspect of art and while it may come naturally to some, I also believe that it can be a learned skill. You will learn to build your drawing skills with step-by-step drawing projects while gaining knowledge and practicing techniques. We will work together to accomplish your drawing goals.
Originally from Ohio, I moved to Deltaville, Virginia in 2023. I have a wonderful newly renovated studio, have won many awards and show my art at the RAL Art Center in Kilmarnock, VA.
Understanding the importance of the art lessons I took as a child, I taught art to young and old students in my studio in Ohio. I also taught art in a homeschool co-op environment for many years! These teaching experiences have allowed me to create many different types of art classes. I love teaching art and watching a whole new world open up to those willing to learn!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I give each student as much instruction as necessary and teach by demonstrating each technique or idea. I usually do each project with the student. We start with basic foundations, building additional skills with each lesson. There is so much to think about and good art takes much practice and patience!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am mainly self-taught but took art classes from a prominent local artist in my hometown as a child. I remember those lessons and loved it! I was always active in the area of art but it wasn't until after my children grew up that I began taking classes at a local art center. I entered shows, won awards, and sold my paintings. I have enriched my own life in art by taking occasional workshops and classes with local and national artists. I began to teach students almost 20 years ago at a homeschool co-op and developed many art classes. I was also able to teach for years in my studio in Ohio. I now live in Deltaville, VA, and have a wonderful studio where I can teach and work!
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge $35 per hour. Lessons are for one hour and I can be flexible with your schedule. My method is to build your drawing skills step-by-step and I recommend at least 8 weeks to create a good drawing foundation. This time frame is also flexible!
How did you get started teaching?
My daughter who home-schooled her children attended a home-school co-op that needed an art teacher. She called me one day and said "Mom, I think you can do this!" I thought about it, prayed about it, and thought, "Yes, I think I can!" I enjoyed preparing for classes and learned so much from teaching. It helped me just as much as it has helped my students. I also taught different types of art classes in my Ohio studio. I met hundreds of wonderful people during those years.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have taught all ages, kids, students, moms, dads, and senior citizens, and I enjoyed them all. I believe at about the age of ten, children can begin to understand the techniques I teach, Therefore, I like to accept students from the age of 10 to adults. I can also accommodate up to four students if you want to come with a friend or family member!
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I recently won a first-place blue ribbon at the RAL {Rapahanock Art League) Art Center in the Wild Things exhibit for my painting "Old and Gnarly"! I also sold that painting. I am very blessed to have received many awards throughout my art career.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find a teacher with passion for art and people. Also, find someone who wants to show you their work and talk about their art experiences.
