Hello! My name is Grace Schlea.

I specialize in traditional oil painting and teach oil painting in a 1.5 hour time frame.

I also work in watercolor and goauche for some of my portrait clients but I do not teach these mediums professionally. PLEASE NOTE, I DO NOT TEACH LESSONS FOR ACRYLIC PAINT.

I hope in the near future to have a different set up in which one -on- one painting lessons can begin again!

I am a former Intervention Specialist Teacher and have been practicing sketching and painting techniques for many years but only began to seriously learn and find my painting style in 2014. I began teaching an after-school art program at the elementary level in 2018 and now enjoy teaching both young adults and adults of all ages painting techniques. I paint portraiture, abstracts, and abstracted realism. I have illustrated a picture book with the author Andi Kryszak which was published in 2018 and is sold in Barnes & Noble and Amazon.

Depending on the lesson material and time length (sketching vs oil painting techniques) my lessons are $35- $75 /per private lesson.

I have found that if you are truly enamored with a subject, you can paint it!

I believe taking time to truly plan at least 50% of what the painting will look like” - helps spring board into a beautiful painting and an exciting process. The painting’s elements will be better executed and appear closer to “satisfaction” if the painter simply applies the pre-planning work.

I prefer to teach oil painting in 75 minute time blocks in my home studio in North Royalton.

Cash or Venmo transactions to be made the same day as the lessons. Cancelations must be made at least 24 hours in advance.

You cannot rush a masterpiece - or even a good learning experience. Art is a slow practice. I find this slowness especially fantastic. We live in a fast-paced world that forgets beautiful goals can still be reached at a slower pace.

I teach students that the end product is part of the goal, but each stroke along the way is so very important and should be purposeful.
