Baseball is a game and should above all be played to be enjoyed. I spent 20 years on various diamonds across the country. I also am a progressive father of 4. I know that kids aren't built the same way they were 20, 30 or 40 years ago. I believe the drive and motivation is there and it's important for kids to find that drive in a healthy way. Fundamental baseball is more than just the fundamentals of baseball. It's teaching this new generations of ball players the fundamentals of life and that they are capable! Should your child come to me they will be learning baseball from experiences I've had as a 3-time Oklahoma 6A State Champion (2007-20...

Laura B. says, "My son has been taking pitching lessons from Scott at The Bullpen for several years. Proper throwing mechanics are the upmost concern during his pitching lessons. Scott has always been very conscious of my son’s age (started going to Scott when he was nine), and ability before moving to the next level. Gentry recently started in his strength and conditioning classes. In addition to the focus on skills required to understand and excel in the fundamentals of baseball, a strong effort is directed to help improve the physical strengths that are needed to progress to the next level. Scott has keen knowledge of the physical demands that baseball has on the body, which allows his training to offer the best results. Gentry comes home exhausted after training, but excited and motivated for his next session. " Read more

I bring experience that not many others have had. After working on my craft all my life I made it to AAA with the New York Mets and was invited to Major League spring training in 2017. Other accolades include several pitcher of the month awards as well as a selection to the AA All-Star team. Injuries derailed my career but I have given lessons during most of my time as a professional and I love working with kids, especially those who like to put in the work. I pitched while in the pro's but I was always a hitter/fielder first and love to teach all aspects of the game....

I was drafted out of High School by the Kansas City Royals in the 3rd round as the 82nd pick overall in 2013. I have been fortunate in my 6+ years of professional experience to learn from some of the best to ever play the game and my desire is to bring that knowledge to the youth baseball culture here in Tulsa. I enjoy teaching the fundamentals and mechanics of the game but my passion is building the confidence of each young athlete through encouragement and positivity.

Your Baseball Training questions, answered

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Lessons.com.

How much do private baseball lessons cost?

Private baseball lessons cost $50 to $75 per 30-minute lesson and $80 to $140 per 1-hour lesson. The price depends on your location, the instructor's experience and reputation, the student's age, and whether the lesson includes extras like a video analysis of the player's performance.

Many coaches offer lower prices per lesson if you purchase a package that includes 6 or 10 lessons. The average package prices are:

  • 6 pack of 30-minute lessons: $270 – $420
  • 6 pack of 1-hour lessons: $450 – $720
  • 10 pack of 30-minute lessons: $400 – $600
  • 10 pack of 1-hour lessons: $700 – $1,100

Are private baseball lessons worth it?

Private baseball lessons may be worth it if your child currently plays the sport, loves it, and has expressed an interest in improving their skills and performance. Private lessons can help your child advance their skills, develop good habits, and avoid forming bad habits.

Motivation and a drive to improve are key factors in whether or not the lessons will actually help your child. It's important for your child to practice in between private lessons.

Children who receive private baseball lessons are usually more likely to advance to playing at higher levels than children who only receive group coaching during regular team practice. However private lessons don't guarantee your child will play collegiate or professional baseball.

What is the difference between private and semi-private baseball lessons?

In a private baseball lesson, the athlete trains one-on-one with an instructor who tailors the lesson specifically to their needs and skill level. In a semi-private lesson, two athletes work together with one instructor. Semi-private lessons, also called partner lessons, typically cost 10% to 20% less than private lessons. However, because the trainer's attention is divided between the two athletes, the athletes don't get the same level of individualized instruction as they would in a private lesson.

What age should you start pitching lessons?

Baseball instructors generally recommend that children start pitching lessons at around 8 to 12 years old, though there are no age requirements or exact rules. Learning fundamental pitching skills early on can help your child avoid developing bad habits that will be difficult for them to break later.

However, your child should not start taking pitching lessons until they are comfortable throwing the ball as well as catching the ball one-handed.

Recent success stories from people in the Broken Arrow area.
John C.
Our son took at least one pitching lesson package each year with Scott from age 9, and as he got older, strength and conditioning training specific to pitchers . Scott stresses pitching mechanics ,and not surprisingly, using proper mechanics each and every pitch prevented injury and made it easy to throw strikes and hit his spots. Results speak for themselves. Morgan was the only freshman Varsity player( and youngest at 14) on the largest 6A high school in the state and lettered all four years. He was recruited by more than 20 junior colleges in and out of state and graduated from Eastern State Univ. on baseball scholarship . He was subsequently recruited by Arkansas State University in Jonesboro Ark. on a full baseball scholarship . Scott could quickly and easily correct mechanics if Morgan slumped. Scott's program certainly helped our son develop into a solid D-1 pitcher.
