Hi!
My name is Angee and I am excited about helping students uncover their love for learning.
Education:
I attend Liberty University. I will have my degree in Educational Psychology at the beginning of August 2016.I will also be taking concurrent graduate classes in School Psychology this January. I have taken many classes which allow me to use educational theories in my tutoring and these have made retention of concepts with my students easier . It is my firm belief that when you know how the brain learns, the student will learn.
Work experience:
I started tutoring in 2009 when I tutored students at my college who were at risk for academic probation. In 2011, I spent a year tutoring a child I was a nanny for so he could enter kindergarten on time. In 2012, I started tutoring professionally for an online tutoring company which led to my face to face tutoring with WyzAnt in 2013. I currently work from home as an independent contractor for an online tutoring company and in my spare time, I like working on making resources for homeschoolers.
I have extensive experience with special needs. This includes being a nanny, tutor and home health aid. I also have experience with IEP's. I very much enjoy these children and am eager to work hard for them. They are often labeled, but I believe they just have a different way of looking at the world.
Teaching Style:
I use many techniques to teach. I first teach according to learning style. This has been EXTREMELY beneficial in my experience and I have seen great results. I also use many aspects of the Cognitive learning theory which states that children learn best when they are motivated to learn. By doing this, children don't just memorize facts. Learning becomes an experience.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I usually start with an assessment to determine strengths and weaknesses. I then do a learning styles quiz to find out how the students learn. From this, I develop a tailored plan but am willing to tailor my approach if certain needs become apparent.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My background is in Educational Psychology. I also finishing my certification in Teaching English to Foreign Learners also am certified to teach early childhood education
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge 30 per hour regardless of the subject. I charge 20 for 45 minute lessons and 15 for 30 minutes
How did you get started teaching?
I progressed in school so the remedial teacher assignment to a job tutoring to remedial students. I found out I really liked it and it went from there
What types of students have you worked with?
I work with all kinds of students. I work as an ESL site based in China as my full time job but I have had readers, people needing math help, etc.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
A couple of my recent readers have been threatened with retention. Because of our hard work together, they were able to move up and not be retained.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
The tutor/student relationship is a mutual one. It takes working together as a team. Make sure your tutor is willing to do this with you.
