About
I played professional baseball in the San Diego Padres organization before 3 arm surgeries sidelined me.
I have coached youth baseball for the past 7 years and have a special knack for teach young players not only the physical side of the game (mechanics), but the mental as well.
I teach young athletes through analogies and visual learning techniques. How hard would math be for your player if the teacher didn't have a chlak board to "show" how things worked. I teach several visual ques so that players can "see" what sucess looks like.
I also teach the "why" behind everything so it makes sense to the player why we are doing it. This isn't a do it becuase I said so... this is now the player wants to do it becuase it now makes sense!
Ever heard a coach tell a player to "hit it out front"? Have you ever asked a player to explain in their words what that coach means? I ask every player that, and to this day have never heard a good answer. This is just one example how most coaches and trainers will "tell" kids what needs to happen, but without a visual explanation of why to make it stick.
The moments I love the most are when players feel what went wrong and say it before I tell them what happened. Once players can feel what went wrong they can now self correct it.
