I just graduated high school so I still remember all the shortcuts that got me through classes. Having a connection with your tutor is important because a level of comfort will make-or-break your ability to ask those in-depth and clarifying questions. I started tutoring the kids in my neighborhood from ages 8-13 and continued in high school. I became the go-to-tutor because I wasn't handing out homework answers, I was teaching them how to pass a test. Simply telling people what I found from the equation wasn't going to help them answer questions by themselves, so I found a way to ask probing questions that lead these students to the correct thinking patterns needed to understand. I do really well breaking down confusing concepts into little stepping stones in order to get on a clear path to comprehension.
