About
Class Description
The studio classes provide a working environment in which students train by painting from life. Classes are modeled after the ateliers of 19th century France, the focus is perfecting the the fundamental disciplines of visual art: drawing, painting, and composition. Considering contemporary lifestyles and schedules, three hour time blocks are offered. Students may register for one three hour class per a week or multiple classes per week if their schedule permits.
The studio classes have a curriculum designed around intensive, one-on-one training. All classes are limited in size, only six students at a time, for nearly private tutoring. Each student receives personal attention with access to the instructor at all times. In such an atmosphere the focus remains on the individual who can progress at his or her own rate. All work is done in class directly from nature and in-depth critiques are given daily.
Studio courses are offered in three semesters from September to June, and are designed for all experience levels. Students may join the program at any time at a pro-rated price. Everyone works thru the painting projects at their own pace. Completion of the painting program will take a commitment for multiple semesters. The core curriculum includes drawing, monochromatic and color painting, and composition. Each program is comprised of exercises proceeding from simple to complex subject matter. The exercises are not meant to be creative but to introduce the fundamental elements of line and color in a controlled manner. The student can thus train the eye and hand on stationary objects building accuracy, confidence and mastery.
Instructor Randall Graham is a working artist with 15 years of experience in fine arts, murals and plein air competitions. He has taught fundamental painting, plein air painting and still life painting for Chester County Art Association, Wayne Art Center, Oxford Art Alliance, Franklin Commons Art Gallery and many other workshops around Chester County and the Main Line.
Step by step instruction at the student’s pace and an intimate learning environment produces the best instruction on the Main Line.

I love helping people gain confidence in art! That confidence lets them create and project their soul into the world.
Painting is my passion and I am very lucky to have been trained by master artists. I love sharing the knowledge I have with others so they can achieve their goals as an artist.
