About

Harrisburg natives Jackson Boyd and Vivian Sterste have partnered to open "Vivi on Verbeke", a Midtown Harrisburg fine art gallery. Located at 258 Verbeke Street the quaint little gallery graces one of Harrisburg's oldest and most charming streets punctuated by the thriving Broad Street Market and the beautiful Susquehanna River.

"Vivi on Verbeke" specializes in the art works of both owners. Vivi creates pottery, ceramic sculptures, paintings, drawings, mixed media, home made natural soaps, photography and crafty oddities. Jeb's photography highlights local South Central Pennsylvania locations including spectacular atmospheric shots of the Harrisburg bridges. He can often be seen welding a unique little table or metal creature during Harrisburg's Third in the Burg.

Both artists are availble to teach and have an extensive knowledge base. Vivi was a licensed certified K-12 Pennsylvania Art Educator for decades and now brings her expertise in pottery, drawing and painting to students on a one-to-one basis. Jeb has held various certifications in mechanics and his photography represents the best of our area. He is also happy to share his aquired skills in photography, welding and humorous conversation!

After decades of varied interpersonal relationships, be they teacher/student, parent/child, neighbor/neighbor or employer/employee Jeb and I are self assured, confident and genuinely exuberant about our creative efforts. Our enthusiasm is apparent from the moment you meet us! We are also very skilled and careful in making sure our students are comfortable and happy.

Vivian is a great teacher. I really liked that she tailored my lesson around what I wanted to learn and my level of experience. She gave me constructive criticism on my work. Her enthusiasm for art shines through!

Vivian structured the lesson around what experience I had and what I wanted to learn. She modeled what she wanted me to do and allowed me to practice doing it myself. A lot of holes in my painting knowledge were filled in and I left feeling excited to try out all Id learned!

Frequently asked questions

We prefer to have our perspective students come to the studio/gallery in Harrisburg to meet with us and take a look around our space and chat awhile to become aquainted and comfortable.  If the student chooses to study with us we work out a mutuallly convenient schedule for them and us.  We also offer an introductory 3 hour session for a reduced rate.  This includes one hour of instruction and two hours of practice with instructional support.   After the first session we charge hourly rates and establish reasonable expectations for the student and teacher.
