About
My B.S. degree, 50 years of teaching in different settings and 6 year study of leadership skills allow me to relate to people in a positive way. (settings include public & private school, adult ed at HACC, homeschool groups, Jen's Pottery Den as a pottery instructor and my own private classes.).
The advantages of my teaching include: flexible scheduling; catering to the student's personal goals, skill level and interests. The private studio setting eliminates a student's fear of competition, of sharing ideas and judgement.
I enjoy teaching because I love seeing that "light bulb" go off when a student has grasped a concept.
I get motivated from being around people with a common interest. Teaching is a fulfilling part of my life; watching a student progress and acheive success is a big part of my life. I've also received 2 art awards and taken addition courses to improve my skills.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Looking at artwork that they have already completed.
Making notes on their: interests, reason for wanting lessons, subject matter, media they prefer and their goals. PS. I'm sorry about the photos being a little "warped".
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Bachelor of science in Art Education
Mastery of basic machine sewing, basic woodworking

How did you get started teaching?
My aunt is an artist and she was coaching me since I was 5 years old. I also wanted to. become an art teacher (according to my 6th grade autobiography). I tutored some under priviledged children as a college project and got bitten by the teaching bug.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I have a yearly art show for students. It's a thrill to watch them point out their work to family and friends. I've also taken groups to Philadelphia and Brandywine museums where we had awesome experiences.
