Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Through my core values of the program (Ignite, Empower, improve) I would first get to know a little about the student-athlete to gain a quick understanding of their interest in the game of basketball and I can fully assess their potential from there and begin the process of training/teaching them the fundamentals of basketbal. Then would come strength and conditioning and it's utter importance to having and competitive edge of the competition they'll face and the health benefits of it. Last but not in the least at all, set up a schedule that can be easily accessible to myself and the student. Consistency with effort will determine their overall success.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am currently the head coach at an Elementary school and I work within my own program OurKidzFirst and numerous basketball associated organizations such as GiveandGo Athletics, Philadelphia Youth Basketball, Philadelphia Youth sports Association, ProFound Training, and the YMCA as a coach and lead basketball facilitator. I also have certifications pertaining to Cardio Wise and Concussion Wise to better understand, recognize, and protect the student-athletes within sport related competitions and activities.

How did you get started teaching?
I've always loved the Game of basketball and the ideology that mentorship can align a child to the path of success through any adversity they may face or are facing. So I knew that while I was living out my dreams and goals as a professional basketball player that children could benefit from my knowledge of the Game and very diverse personal history. I got a job as a Restorative Actions Coordinator at an Elementary school and from there I knew I wanted to touch teach everything I knew to the youth.
What types of students have you worked with?
I worked with a multitude of students attending the school and the various programs I've coached/facilitated. All from very diverse backgrounds, ethnicities, and cultures. All with different levels of skill sets, and potentials. Ages ranging from 5 years to 21 years old.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Be sure to make only the commitment you're going to successfully complete. Don't purchase the time of someone you don't plan to utilize to the best of the opportunity to. Be open minded to learning everything you possibly are able to from your teacher.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Ask whatever you feel necessary to make sure you are receiving the correct information and education about basketball, and in life.
