Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I assess where they are ability, interest and exposure wise and figure out a connection point. To me this is something they enjoy doing or have a love for that I can use to make learning English fun and exciting for them. I believe students want to learn most when they can see a direct connection between what they are learning and their lives, in other words I want to teach students what they want AND need to learn. I also develop a sense of comfort in my classroom and make sure that they feel welcome and ready to learn this way there is an unlimited amount of learning potential in my classroom. I will learn about them and how they learn so I can develop my classes based on their individual needs and learning styles.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a bachelor of arts degree, I majored in writing and minored in sociology. I also have a TESOL certification. With my current ESL teaching job I have taught over 200 classes and have received positive reviews from parents and lots of smiles from children.
