About
The methodology I use makes use of modeling. It is similar to the adage "A picture is worth a thousand words". Students can progress quickly with this approach. Tone, range, dynamics, flexibility, tonguing, finger control, intonation and sight-reading are all part of developing a trumpeter who is musical.
I love teaching trumpet. Aside from helping students at times with Advanced Placement Music Theory questions my focus is on teaching trumpet. I was extremely fortunate to have studied with several trumpet teachers that influenced me greatly and I like to pass that enthuasism and knowledge along to others.
I have many years experience teaching trumpet privately. My studio is well setup to teach via Zoom or in person. I utilize excellent microphones and share an IPad Pro with my computer screen so student and teacher are literally on the same page.
I am retired from a very successful and rewarding 32 year career as a high school band director where I conducted concert band, wind ensemble, jazz bands brass ensembles and other ensembles. I also actively freelanced as a professional trumpet player for decades.
