Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First, to evaluate their abilities. I tend to cover a lot of dimensions (technique, sound production, etc), in order to grow, in a complete way. I use the time to teach (playing togethor, some, but not as a practice session), and hope most that students practice between lessons.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I studied, privately, for ten years, also teaching (lightly- about six- seven students, over that period).
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
About $27/half hour, $55/hr.
How did you get started teaching?
Picked up students, that asked, while in high school in Westmont, NJ.
What types of students have you worked with?
Beginner to intermediate. Students can determine the productive use of our connection, and in which way they would find best, regarding growth.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Try a teacher for two lessons. Call them back if your comfortable, and if you find the time useful. There are teachers that students aren't ready for, and some that don't give enough in the allotted time. Once you have a truely useful, helpful connection, you can tell within a lesson or two whether this teacher will be ok for the student. There are many teachers that influence, and are beneficial in ways beyond music, with music simply as a tool of development. This is a unique, useful, and positive teacher, also.
Good luck.
