About this pro

I have been painting and drawing for over 15 years. I teach high school art, and show my paintings in local juried art shows.

Painting and drawing is my life. I have worked very hard developing my skill and like to share my knowledge with other artists. I relate very well with adolescences and beginner artists, as well as people wanting to get back to doing their art.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

I have the student bring in some of their work and we dicuss it.

This way I can see how developed they are and what needs instruction. Example drawing skills perspective, anaotomy, vaue improvement, in painting color mixing and application skills.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have painted and taught for 18 years in a public school. I relate well with adolescence and adults and have a lot of training and learned techniques throughout the years.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

I like to see each student for a minium of 2 hours or 3 hours per lesson. This way we really get things started and applied.

How did you get started teaching?

I was recommended by a friend to teach art in a Catholic school many years ago, while getting my BFA and have been teaching ever since.

What types of students have you worked with?

All kinds, special needs students, gifted adolescences, ages 10 up to adult. We all have our idiosynchrocies, and strenghts.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.

I just awarded a student the art award in my high school.

He was surprised and very honored.I loved seeing how proud he was.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

Look for a teacher that specializes in the area you want to improve in.

My strongest skills are in drawing and painting.

I have students also prepare for a strong portfolio in cast they want to major in an art field. I have research and know what the colleges are looking for.

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?

What they want to improve in and what they really want to learn.
