THE INSTRUCTOR: Instructor, Jennifer Swenson, has a masters degree in Art Education and taught her award-winning art curriculum in the public school system for ten years. She is also a muralist, graphic designer, and award winning author/illustrator of children’s books. In order to spend more time with her children, and to be able to explore artistic avenues with students that aren’t necessarily conducive to the public school setting, she opened Swenson Studios in 2015. THE OFFERINGS: Swenson Studios offers instruction in drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking and fiber crafts in a small group instruction setting. During the school year, classes meet once a week for an hour. There are six, six-week-long sessions during the school year: Fall 1, Fall 2, Winter 1, Winter 2, Spring 1, and Spring 2. During the summer, Swenson Studios offers week-long art camps. Throughout the year, Swenson Studios also offers Art Night Out sessions where children come to make and take a one-session artwork.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
New students either join the next art making session, which run every six weeks during the school year, or set up a time and day for private instruction.
Art sessions are teacher directed group lessons, all the student has to do is show up!
The private and semi-private lessons are student directed, meaning the student(s) and teacher discuss the materials, subject matter, and skills for study. A brief consultation is requested before the first meeting so production can begin immediately during the first class.
