My type of session would consist of the following:
-Touches and movement with the ball to warm up.
-Exercises/drills with a focus on dribbling, passing, shooting, receiving/turning, shielding.
- Transition into game type situaions: 1v1 attacking/defending, 1-2 combinations going to goal, crossing, finishing. Whatever the client would like to focus on, I will plan accordingly to their specific needs.
-Strength, speed, and agility exercises can be integrated with the session plan as well.
-1000+ touches with the ball for the session is always the goal!
-All the player or players needs to do is bring the energy and listen to the little details throughout the session. If they can do that, the player will see results!
I also incorporate a futsal style approach to my training. I believe futsal is a great developmental tool for youth players to improve their technique and awareness in tight spaces, so when they get older and begin to play outdoor soccer, their skill level and soccer IQ will stand out among the competition.
