Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to share a little about our mutual interests, and get to know each other to begin. After that, we decide what they need to work on primarily, their learning style, and how I can best help them.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have PA certification in Spanish K-12, as well as Middle Years 4-8. I also have a M. Ed degree. I've taught in the Cheltenham School District for 15 years, as a Spanish teacher and World Langugaes instructor. I have tutored Spanish at all levels, and am an SAT/ACT verbal exam tutor. I keep up-to-date with all of the changes taking place regarding the college entrance exams. I also tutor Language Arts, writing and study skills.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I generally charge $60/hr.
How did you get started teaching?
I began working as a substitute teacher in Cheltenham, while I was studying for my certification. I was fortunate to be mentored by two outstanding language teachers at Elkins Park Middle School. I received my certificate and was hired by EP to teach there.
