What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Welcome to the Peck Clarinet Studio! My objective is to help clarinet students of all abilities reach their full potential. With almost 20 years of teaching experience, I can help you learn practice techniques that ideally benefit the areas of development that need attention, giving you a customized approach to musical growth. I am located in the west suburbs of Pittsburgh in the Carnegie/Rosslyn Farms/Robinson/Crafton area.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Heidi Aufdenkamp Peck grew up in Ohio, where she was a private clarinet student of Dan Roberdeau. While attending Louisville High School, Heidi participated in the Canton Youth Symphony, as well as being selected as principal clarinet in the University of Akron Ohio Band Directors Conference Honor Band.
While an undergraduate at the University of Akron, Heidi was in the studio of David Bell. Heidi won the University of Akron Concerto Competition as a sophomore performing Claude Debussy's "Premiere Rhapsodie". Heidi graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Clarinet Performance.
While at The University of Michigan, Heidi was in the studio of Fred Ormand and participated in the highly selective University Symphony Orchestra. Heidi graduated with a Master of Music in Clarinet Performance.
Heidi currently performs as second clarinet and E-flat clarinet with the Akron Symphony. She has also performed with the Pittsburgh Ballet, Canton Symphony Orchestra, Youngstown Symphony Orchestra, Erie (PA) Philharmonic, Lansing (MI) Symphony Orchestra, Westmoreland Symphony Orchestra, Ohio Chamber Orchestra, and she has toured with Keith Brion and his New Sousa Band as well as Barry Manilow! She was an International Clarinet Association Orchestral Excerpt Competition Semi-Finalist in 1998 and an International Clarinet Association Young Artists Competition Semi-Finalist in 1995 and 1996.
