What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First, We establish what they want to learn.
Then, I do a personal assessment of where they are In their development. This is also serves as an ice breaker. ( we play together)
If the student has experience. I find out where their ability is, then we begin there.
Learning type. Visual, aural, tactile, mixture.
Learning disabilities. I know about them. There are ways to learn through disabilities. A frank discussion is essential.
All this through playing .something comfortable together.
And talking a little. Most lessons do not envolve a lot of disscussion.
Then I can create a personalized curriculum.
I keep notes and records that I work from.

BA music education. (Clarinet major)

-Jazz studies, And Ethnomuicology

5 year study of Popular American Music.
( Flute Major)
