BFA with a concentration in Painting and Drawing. 40 years' experience as a professional artist and educator.

I was showing my work in local exhibitions as a teenager, and people started asking if I would teach their kids.

Ages 9 - 90, both genders, many races and nationalities.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
My former student just had an "Upcycledfest" art event that I participated in. It was great to see him at the helm!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Work with someone who will demystify the "hard" stuff like drawing from life, understanding color and how colors interact with each other, and who lets you ask all the questions you want. Work with someone who is kind and who loves to teach.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Why do you want to do art? What excites you visually regarding art, color, pattern, etc.?
